BREAST REDUCTION BY DIEP AT NORTH SHORE COSMETIC SURGERY IN HUNTINGTON NEW YORK

This mother of three in her late 40's, came to us via referral from a local breast surgeon. After a diagnosis of breast cancer, the patient was to undergo a bilateral mastectomy. She was interested in speaking with Dr. Romanelli so that he could examine her and explain what her reconstruction options were. Examination showed that she was an excellent candidate for a DIEP flap reconstruction, wherein the patient’s own tissue and fat are used to reconstruct the breasts. Everyone agreed that this was the option that was most appealing to the patient and surgery was booked. Dr. Romanelli, during the same procedure as the breast surgeon (who performed the double mastectomy) performed the procedure on a Friday evening.
