What Is Forever Body BBL®?

BroadBand Light built for large areas — the chest, arms, hands, back and legs.

Forever Body BBL® applies the same BroadBand Light technology used on the face to everything below it. It is performed on the BBL® HEROic™ platform, and it exists because of one specific engineering change: speed.

Treating a chest or a pair of arms with older light devices meant a long, uncomfortable appointment, which is why most practices simply did not offer it. HEROic™ — High Energy Rapid Output — delivers high energy at a much faster rate, and Sciton® reports that large areas such as the back, legs and arms can be covered in as little as three minutes.

The result is that the parts of the body most people never treat become practical to treat. Sun spots and age spots on the décolleté, freckling across the shoulders, discoloration on the backs of the hands, mottled pigment on the shins — all of it responds to the same targeted light energy, and all of it clears the same way.

What to Expect During Forever Body BBL®

Forever Body BBL® is performed at our Melville office by one of our physician assistants.

You will change into a gown so we can access the full treatment area, and we will give you protective eyewear. After cleansing, cool gel is applied and your provider glides the handpiece across the skin in overlapping passes. Each pulse feels like a quick flash of warmth against a cool surface.

Light delivery is fast — Sciton® cites two to ten minutes for many body areas, and as little as three minutes for large regions like the back. Plan on being in the office 30 to 60 minutes total depending on how many areas you are treating.

Afterward the skin feels warm, like a mild sunburn, and that fades over roughly 30 to 60 minutes. We will apply sunscreen and review aftercare before you leave.

What Is Recovery Like After Forever Body BBL®?

There is no required downtime, and most patients resume normal activity immediately.

As on the face, the treated pigment darkens before it clears. Over the first 24 to 48 hours spots deepen into small, coffee-ground-colored flecks, then flake away over the following three to seven days. Body skin often takes a little longer to shed than facial skin, so give it up to a week or slightly more.

Mild redness and a sunburn-like sensation are normal for several hours. Some swelling is possible on the arms and legs.

Two practical notes. Skip hot tubs, saunas and intense workouts for about 24 to 48 hours, and keep the treated area out of the sun — the chest and shoulders are exactly the areas people forget to cover. Daily broad-spectrum SPF on treated skin is essential if you want the result to hold.

Full results generally appear over about two to three weeks.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Forever Body BBL®?

Forever Body BBL® is for anyone whose body shows more sun history than their face does. On Long Island that is a very long list — beach summers, boating, golf, gardening and decades of driving with an arm on the window ledge all leave the same signature.

The most commonly treated areas are the décolleté and upper chest, the shoulders, the outer arms, the backs of the hands, the upper back and the shins. Patients often schedule ahead of a wedding, a reunion or a vacation where the chest and arms will be visible.

As with any BBL® treatment, we need you at your natural skin tone — no deliberate sun, tanning beds or self-tanner for two to three weeks beforehand. That makes late fall through early spring the easiest window for body treatment on Long Island. Deeper skin tones can often be treated with adjusted settings following evaluation.

Forever Body BBL® addresses color, not laxity or texture. If crepey, loose skin on the arms or abdomen is your concern, SkinTyte® is the better tool — and the two are frequently combined.
