How much weight will I lose from breast reduction?
Tissue removed typically weighs 1-5 pounds total. Breast reduction surgery isn't weight loss—it's proportion restoration. However, you'll feel significantly lighter and more comfortable almost immediately.
Will I lose nipple sensation after breast reduction?
Temporary numbness or supersensitivity is common, with most sensation returning within 6-12 months. Permanent sensation loss is rare with modern techniques. We use approaches that preserve nerve pathways whenever possible. Rare exception: some patients, with extremely large breasts, are best treated by the free nipple graft type of breast reduction, which results in no nipple sensation and no ability to breast feed. However, this applies to very few patients (fewer than 5% in our practice) and is always discussed prior to surgery.
Can I breastfeed after breast reduction?
Many women can breastfeed after reduction, though it's not guaranteed. The exception is patients who require free nipple graft breast surgery technique. This applies to only those patients with the largest breasts (less than 5% of our patients) and is always discussed prior to surgery.
What size will I be after breast reduction?
We'll discuss your goal size during consultation and at your pre-op visit. Bring "wish pic" photos for us to best understand your goals. Plastic surgery breast reduction creates balanced, comfortable results suited to your body.
