Case Details

This patient in her mid 30’s, came to our office after a gastric bypass procedure. She had lost over 100 pounds and wanted to see Dr. Romanelli, to address the excess skin that remained on her abdomen and breasts. Upon examination, Dr. Romanelli found her to be an excellent candidate for an extended abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and a breast lift. The extended tummy tuck would remove the excess skin from the abdominal area and the hips, or ‘love handles’. With a massive weight loss such as this case, an extended version of a standard tummy tuck is normally required to give the patient the flatter, smoother shape that is desired. The breast lift would also remove excess skin, giving the patient a higher, firmer bustline. Because of the amount of skin removal required, Dr. Romanelli performed the procedures at Melville Hospital. The patient arrived on a Friday morning and stayed over one night, returning to the comfort of her home to recover by Saturday afternoon. The patient is thrilled with her results! The final step in a challenging process, the cosmetic surgery was an exciting finish to her weight loss journey. We especially love helping these patients achieve their happy endings.
