Breast Reconstruction At North Shore Cosmetic Surgery In Melville, New York

This patient in her early 50’s was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer on the left side, as well as abnormal cells on the right. After consultation with her breast surgeon and Dr. Romanelli, she made the decision to undergo bilateral mastectomies in order to assure a cure and to avoid further mammograms and biopsies. Fortunately, her breast surgeon was able to preserve her nipples. Dr. Romanelli was able to fully reconstruct the patient using Silicone Gel Implants, and Alloderm (a human skin-derived product) immediately at the time of her mastectomies. This is sometimes called the Direct to Implant method. Her post-operative course proceeded without problems. She spent one night in the hospital after surgery, but was back driving at a week. Her post-operative photographs show her several months after surgery. As her incisions were around the areola she hardly looks as though she had any surgery at all. Most importantly, she has peace of mind.
